Who are we?

Providing a space and time for people to relax with God

All our retreat days are run under the auspices of the Parish of Felixstowe as part of its ‘Growing Deeper’ programme. They have been set up by Catherine Bond, Penny Brinkley and Jane Pearse.

Why we set up Lark Rise Retreats

Jane and Catherine wanted to offer people a space and time for people to relax and be with God. As we get busier it can be hard to find time for God. Their retreat days are an opportunity to step away from busyness and rest quietly.

Penny Brinkley loves to provide space where people can have time to just be with God, without feeling guilty that they should be doing other things. She enjoys enabling people to explore their creative side, helping them to realise it isn’t the end result that is important, but the process and time spent in God’s presence.

Jane and Catherine are skilled encouragers of an integrated spiritual life – mind, heart and body all have their place. On one of their retreats you might find tears, or laughter, or both, but you will be moved.

Lark Rise provided a warm, safe and caring space in which to participate in a thoughtfully led Christian retreat. There was space in time and place to retreat and respond to the suggested direction being offered.

Thank you both for a rich, soulful and inspirational few days. The group meditations in the chapel helped me to feel calmer and get in touch with my feelings. And I loved the sense of community and connection which you and Othona created. I left with a lighter heart.

For me, a very busy person, even in retirement, Penny allows the space to get back to basics and allow me to explore my faith in a variety of ways.

After a difficult period in my life I was in need of some time for personal reflection. I went to a quiet Day last November at Felixstowe Ferry, led by Penny. The day was well organised with time to share views on the topics raised, further time to read from some of the literature provided, and even time for a walk at lunchtime along the river wall. I definitely felt the benefit of a quiet & thoughtful day.
