The art journalling group meet on the last Wednesday of each month at St. John’s Church, Orwell Road, Felixstowe at 2pm to 4pm.
Each month we either bible or prayer journal using mixed media.
For the Bible journalling a bible verse or passage is sent out for you to think about, roughly a week before we meet, and then at the start of the meeting we have a short reflection, some ideas of how the passage can be represented in art and some guidance on the methods that can be used to achieve this. The artwork can either be done in a journalling bible, a sketchbook or on a looseleaf sheet of paper.
For the Prayer journalling a subject for prayer will be sent out about a week before the meeting. The artwork is usually done on a looseleaf sheet and often involves collage alongside painting in various mediums.
There is no right or wrong way of doing this, and the quality of the work is irrelevant as it is about the time spent in God’s presence meditating on his word. No one has to follow what is suggested for the session and all are free to do their own thing. All art supplies are provided, along with refreshments, there is no charge, but donations are always appreciated.
